3Roots directly financed many parts of the Historic Brushy Mountain Prison tourism project, including multiple restaurants, gift shop, campground, and concert venue and events. 3Roots leveraged our relationships with multiple bank partners to provide millions of dollars of financing over the course of seven years.

Job Creating Loans to a Rural Manufacturer
Three Roots Capital provided multiple loans totaling $3 million to a manufacturer in McCreary County, Kentucky. The loans were made over a period of several years (2016 – 2020) to support a critical employer in a poverty-stricken county. 3Roots loans enabled:
- the retention of 200 jobs
- the addition of new product lines
- the creation of 240 new jobs
3Roots’ participation was critical in light of the difficulties related to accessing traditional sources of capital because of the location in rural, low-income Appalachia.
Microloan to Technology Company in Downtown Knoxville

Three Roots Capital made a microloan loan to an energy efficiency software company located in the Knoxville Urban Empowerment Zone.
- The company grew quickly but struggled with having access to capital.
- Three Roots provided the company a $20,000 loan for working capital.
- Three Roots provided developmental services including coaching sessions for the CEO.
- Company’s CEO serves as a mentor to other Three Roots clients.
